Days Out: Where to go, what to do
21/ 7/2005
YOU can keep your farm animals and shrubberies because next
Wednesday I'm off to the
110th International Cheese
Show in Nantwich, Cheshire.
Thousands of cheeses will descend on Nantwich - there are currently
more than 2,000 entries for the competition - including the
smallest goat's cheese to massive blocks of Cheddar and great big
barrels of Stilton.
With so much cheese around more than 90 judges will be sniffling,
fondling and sampling cheeses from more than 100 categories to pick
the show's prize winners.
There will also be a surprise celebrity signing autographs and
choosing a winning cheese. Last year more than 30,000 people
visited the festival.
The event starts at 9am and finishes 6pm. Admission is £12 on the
day and £10 in advance. The event is held in Dorfold Hall.

GREEN-FINGERED folk from across the region - and beyond - are
beating a path to leafy Cheshire this weekend.
They are heading to the blooming marvellous flower show at
Tatton Park.
The beautiful 24-acre parkland setting provides a magnificent
backdrop for the event, where visitors can enjoy a celebration of
everything floral and horticultural.
There will be show gardens, themed floral displays, flower
arranging, talks, demonstrations and opportunities to buy plants,
gifts, craft and edible treats.
The Royal Horticultural Society's national flowerbed competition,
the plant plaza and the Country Living showcases the best arts,
crafts and local produce and makes the event one of the biggest
gardening calendar.
Opening times are: 10am to 7pm on Friday and Saturday and from 10am
until 5pm on Sunday. Admission prices: adults £18 in advance or £20
on the day, tickets for children aged between 5 and 15 cost £5.
