THE impressive country estate of Tatton Park is the setting this weekend for two musical events set to add their own page to its history.

Tomorrow (Saturday), the Cheshire attraction plays host to the Halle Fireworks and Light Spectacular.

This is the 16th annual event of its kind when the orchestra recently ranked No.1 in the UK by The Times returns to provide an accomplished and pleasing programme.

There will be music from classics like Tchaikovsky's Romeo and Juliet, Egar's Enigma Variations and Khachaturian's Spartacus, as well as Leonard Bernstein's Candide and Richard Rodgers' South Pacific.

And, in keeping with this popular tradition, the concert will end with a spectacular firework display, synchronised perfectly with the Halle's performance for a truly awe-inspiring evening.

On Sunday, there are more musical fireworks of a quite different type when Party at Tatton Park displays a fizzing line-up of the best musical talent from the Eighties, performing a hits-only set.

One of the most successful girl bands ever, Bananarama (pictured), will be wowing the fans, with original members Sara Dallin and Keren Woodward singing a selection of their top ten hits including Robert DeNiro's Waiting.

Solo artist Belinda Carlisle will be reprising hits like Heaven is a Place on Earth, and T'Pau - with flame-haired singer Carol Decker - will be delighting the audience with their No.1 classic China in Your Hands.

Haircut 100 frontman Nick Heyward, who had many hits including the band's Love Plus One and Nobody's Fool, will be making an appearance, as will Altered Images with Clare Grogan's unique delivery rolling back the years.

And one of the most iconic individuals of the Eighties, Toyah Wilcox will be showing why her career has spanned the ensuing years, singing hits like I Wanna Be Free.
