Brave Melissa was a true inspiration

Victoria Morley

AS fragile as a butterfly’s wing but with the courage and heart of a lion.

This is the way 11-year-old ‘butterfly girl’, Melissa Hughes, will be remembered by family and friends after she lost her battle with the rare skin condition Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB) on Thursday, January 3.

Melissa had use to come to Hazel grove primary and when she did she use to be in my class for 1-2 years. I use to be close to melissa and use to stay in with her at school at break time and play games with her. I thought she was an awesome girl and she will be truly missed. I hope gillian and family are all right and i am deeply sorry! I will miss her a lot

Gill, Danny and Ayden, a much loved Mum, Dad and little brother. Gill, Danny you gave her everything you could, she had a happy life and always spoke of how much she loved you all at school. A memory i have of a conversation at school when we was talking about families in class. Melissa said my mum looks after me, medicine and dressings and plays with me, i love my mummy. Danny my proper dad looks after us all, he tells me off quite a bit but i glad he married mummy,i love danny. Ayden is a pest but i love playing with him, he's the best brother i could ever have. i hope this helps you know that Melissa loved you and always talked about you all at school. She was lucky to have you all.
