Is football coming home?

Exclusive by Miles Skinner
5/ 3/2008

IT’S coming home, it’s coming home - Edgeley Park’s coming home!

At least that’s the hope of County bosses launching a new fundraising drive to regain ownership of the historic ground The Hatters have called home since 1902.

Stockport County FC is serious about buying back the venue they sold to double glazing magnate Brian Kennedy in 2002, and are hoping to follow in the footsteps of a dot com millionaire to get it.

Ben mate, I'm an ordinary fan and I own my club so I'm happy contribute what I can. After all, it's not like the dosh is going into some obscenely wealthy, greedy, billion dollar multinational's profits, now is it? Come on the County 8-)

While everyone approves of County buying back the ground, why should the ordinary fans be forced to stump up again. Equally, I am not sure I would want to have an end of the ground called after me if my surname was Bell!

This is great news not only for Stockport county but for Stockport as a whole. Come on everyone, get bidding! Lets bring it back to where it belongs. Some of my mates say they will even run naked down Castle street if we manage it!!!
