Thieves target business opposite police station
Alex Scapens5/ 3/2008
OWNERS of a Reddish family business are fuming after thieves stole lead from their roof three times in a week - while oblivious officers sat in a police station directly opposite.
Stephen Barber, from S Taylor and Sons glazing firm, on Gorton Road, crossed the street on Wednesday morning (February 27) to report the crime and ask police to keep watch over the premises that night - fearing the culprits may return.
Oh how embarrassing! Right under the Police's nose!
Or is it?
Reddish Police Station is only a base after 5.00 o'clock. Where was the lead stolen from on the roof opposite? What is the street lighting like? Do the windows of the Police station directly face onto the road? Is it not a single storey building?
Aren't most of the Police at Reddish largely out and about and shifts finish at 10.00 or 11.00 pm?
Perhaps the previous postings need to look at this rather than airing their prejudices. Some of which is incorrect anyway e.g. Mr taylor's business does not pay Council Tax - it pays a nationally set Business Rate that Stockport collects.
Embarrassing yes, but let's have some facts.

Ben Davies, Police do not sleep on duty they would be doing things like eating doughnuts and drinking coffee....
But seriously the police are that busy now a days that this does not surprise me, what needs to happen is get rid of the pcso (get them doing paperwork in the back) as they are as much use as a chocolate fire guard and get more proper police on the streets. The government make a hard job even harder.

Well that says it all. I am not surprised this guy is fed up with the police. They must have been sleeping in the back room of the police station when these thieves helped themselves to this mans property. The police can huff and they can puff but basically they are useless.

This is terrible i feel sorry that the guy spends so much probably on council tax - which is supposed to give the police more resources to tackle such crimes..especially already informing the reddish police station.
Does this mean that tax money is being wasted on nothing and the police do nothing??? I dont live to far away and there is always police racing about with blue lights in emergencies maybe???

Should less emphasis be placed on the results of tests and more emphasis on general education for children?
