Schools facing shake-up revealed
Exclusive by Peter Devine2/ 4/2008
THE Stockport Express can reveal the names of 15 primary schools facing an uncertain future.
A confidential document leaked to the paper identifies schools in North Marple, South Marple, Heald Green, Edgeley and Brinnington - including Roman Catholic and Church of England faith schools.
The figure goes beyond the number of schools quoted in an exclusive story in the Express last December, when we revealed that up to ten schools faced the axe as the Council seek to cut classroom surplusses because of the falling birth rate.
The website address given in my last message was incorrect it is:

From a meeting I attended at our school in March with Jamieson and other council members it is clear that they are working with outdated and inaccurate information with regard to school closures. The psycological damage that can be done by moving young primary children at a crucial stage in their development and disrupting their education is an avenue the council does not seem to have thought about at all. Please remember to use your vote wisely on May 1st and vote against school closures and the Lib-Dem mismanagement of the school closure policy. My child goes to one of the schools on the 'closure list' and they have set up a parents forum and website to look at all the correct statistics regarding Stockport schools, birth rates etc.. I urge all parents to fight closures if it is not right for your community or child. Take a look at www.savebrooksideprimary.co.uk for inspiration!
And don't let the council limit the choice for schools for your children or disrupt their education, back to portacabins in the playground!
