Exclusive by Peter Devine25/ 6/2008
THE chairman of the Association of Greater Manchester Authorities (AGMA) has dismissed a claim by Stockport’s Council leader that Metrolink would ‘never’ come to the town.
The response from, Lord Peter Smith, came following the claim made in last week’s Stockport Express by Councillor Dave Goddard.

Well, the trams could have run from the G-Mex Centre to New Mills via Chorlton-cum-Hardy, Heaton Mersey, Hazel Grove and Disley. Unfortunately, the great visionaries of the '70s dug up the track and built on the bed between G-Mex and Cheadle Heath.
