House demolition begins with tears
9/ 7/2008
A BUILDER has been forced to demolish his dream home after council planning chiefs ruled it was 2ft too tall.
Steve Woodfinden-Lewis, 49, said he was left in tears watching the house on Chester Road, Woodford, being knocked down.
I heard that the new Stockport Academy is higher than planned. will Stockport council demolish their own building? I think not.
Although it would be a waste of tax payers money, its total hypocracy.

this house was never his 'home', he's a builder, it was a calculated risk to make it as large as possible to maximize profit.it was not plastered, had absolutely nothing inside.he got his just desserts.haha, shouldn't have had permission to build on greenbelt in the first place

Why didn't Stockport council force Tescos to demolish their 24 Hr Superstore when it was built too big.

If he feels there has been an injustice in this case he should make the plans public so that everyone can make informed comments.I don't know whether he deserves this outcome or not as the facts in the above article seem a little blurred and inconsistent.

The planning laws appear to be have no bite as it takes so long to reach final decisions after appeals, but this enforced demolition has a clear message (as well as a big bill!)

Why wasn't it built to the approved plans in the first place?
His own fault!
