Quote from Coun Lees-"We prefer co-operation and participation".Thats what the Nazis told the Jews in the concentration camps when they protested about sorting out clothes, shoes, false teeth etc,etc...............

I just want to say that I moved to Stockport from Manchester 6 months ago and believe me the waste collection is much better. The times we've "forgotten" to put our bin bags ready the guys have come into the garden and taken them away for us, ok on occassions we don't get a bin bag but its not the end of the world its £4 from Tesco for a huge rolls of the thick bin bags. In Manchester they have wheelie bins and no one near where we lived recycled, we recycle everything we can now which we never did, this is due to the fact that the temptation to just throw everything in the wheelie has been removed - give people more bin space they'll use it! The one and only thing I'd like to see is cardboard and plastic recycle collections, other that that the guys do a great job - and I'm sure if they were appreciated a little more they'd take even more pride in doing a job that most people would never want to do.

I note Ann Coffeys comments regarding the refuse collection, Has Anne Coffey ever visited some of the streets in Stockport where there are rows of terraced houses. Where does she expect householders in these premises to keep a wheelie bin. As it is we struggle to find somewhere to keep the green garden waste bin, the black recycling bin. I would like some garden left at the back of the house and who really whats to drag these resepticals through there lounges.

"to prevent injury to collection staff" for this read, 'because they are too lazy to walk up your garden path' The standard of collection within Stockport, certainly Reddish, is a complete disgrace. Most people round here already put their bin bags on the street which is contrary to current instruction and legislation. Stocport Council condone this by not prosecuting people who do this because they are paying for a 2nd rate service and want it cheaper and we are the ones who suffer. I have had to phone Stockport Council on numerous occassions to get the "collection agents" back as they have yet again failed to step inside my gate, walk 2 metres and pick up my bin bags. What should I do? break the law and leave my refuse on the street?

On parting, I would just like to ask if Stockport Council think that street sweeping once every 10 weeks is enough to keep the streets clean when they condone leaving bin bags on the highway?

There are a number of problems with wheelie bins, especially for people who work full time during the day. (1) As the wheelie bins will be out on the streets all day, they present a great advertisment for burgulars, knowing that people are not at home after there bin has been empitied, as they are still in the street. (2) When one gets home and sees a number of wheelie bins together, how does the resident know which bin is there's? The only way of knowing is to paint the number of the house on the bin which again, only gives the potential burgular an advertisement to let them know that no one is at home. (3) Wheelie bins can go missing as kids wheel them away as they see them on the street. What does the resident do then with their rubbish when they cannot find their bin? The only way for wheelie bins to work is for the refuse collectors to get the bins themselves and bring them back. Somehow I cannot see that happening.

The problem with whellie bins is that they are a great advertisement for burgulars who know that peop

The more money they save on waste collection the more they can spend more important things like themselves.

How many house holds can accommodate a wheelie bin Terraced houses where the rubish is stored at the rear of the property prior to collection and the rubish is then carried through the house in black bags on collection day? What an advert to the criminal when the wheelie bin is left at the road side all day that nobody is home! or the wind tip's the bin in too the road Two week collection? In the USA they collect twice a week to reduce the chance of rotting food and the vermin being attracted to the stench
