Council slammed for £3.8M 'lost' taxes

A LEADING opposition councillor has condemned the borough's worsening council tax collections which increased to more than £3.8million as of April 2007.

   I think that the GMB are doing a good job in publicising these huge of amounts uncollected council tax at the end of each year. The Government thinks Council Tax is a good tax and easy to collect. This proves that this is not the case. The next question Councillor Bailey should be asking is, just how much unpaid council tax was written off this year and for that matter over the last ten years. I think she may find that it is a good sum.
