£36m means Mersey water is cleanest yet

ANGLERS in Stockport have welcomed the £36m upgrade of a new treatment plant which will make the waters of the River Mersey cleaner than they have been in centuries

   There are many smells associated with Stockport town centre: the brewery, the dog dirt, the smell of the mersey and despair. Take away one and you are messing with an eco system that has been in place for centuries. Clearly not all progress is good.
