St Anne's RC High

15/10/2002

A FLEET of limousines ferried Year 11 pupils from St Anne's RC High in Heaton Chapel to their prom at Stockport County Football Club.

Just over a hundred 16-year-olds from the school took the opportunity to bid a fond farewell to fellow pupils and staff during a sit-down meal and disco.

"It was a super evening enjoyed by all," said head of Year 11, Graham Brown.

"It really was a tremendous occasion and I was sad to see them off. They're a fine bunch of young adults and did themselves proud. The girls all looked gorgeous and the lads looked handsome."

Most of the school friends will now go on to sixth form studies at Aquinas College, although some have found jobs.

Around 25 members of staff, most of whom had some involvement with Year 11, attended the dinner dance and some teachers who had left during the past five years returned to say goodbye to the school leavers.

"We made a conscious decision not to have speeches," said Mr Brown.

"Everyone just got on with the business of socialising and chatting and enjoying themselves.

"It was very successful and at the end there were lots of hugs and kisses and handshakes."
