Is the future bright for Stockport? Give us your views on the state of the borough

Victoria Morley

Stockport council is holding its annual State of the Area debate in October.

And the Stockport Express wants you, our readers, to tell us exactly what you think the Council's future agenda should be - so we can put it to them on your behalf.

If you have concerns about local transport, job opportunities, the environment, children's play areas, health in the borough, or anything else, let us know.

Send your views to www.stockportexpress@gmwn.co.uk. or write to Stockport Express, Wood Street, Hollywood, Stockport, SK30AB.

Stockport residents will also get a chance to raise issues with councillors at the State of the Area debates, which will be held during local area committee meetings next month.

Council Leader councillor Dave Goddard said: "We would like people's views on what makes their local area unique, and how they feel that the places in which they live or work should be 'shaped' over the next 15 years to improve them and make them more sustainable. We want to improve the quality of people's lives without affecting those of future generations."

Dates and venues of the special area committees are:

•Monday, October 1: Tame Valley Area Committee and Stepping Hill Area Committee - both at Stockport Town Hall.

•Tuesday, October 2: Werneth Area Committee, Ada Kay Centre, Lower Bredbury, and Cheadle Area Committee, Ladybridge Park Residents Club, Edenbridge Road.

•Wednesday, October 3: Four Heatons Area Committee, Heatons Centre, Thornfield Road, and Marple Area Committee, Marple Library, Memorial Park.

•Thursday, October 4: Bramhall Area Committee, Bramhall Village Club, Melbourne Road, and Victoria Area Committee, Stockport Town Hall.

Best thing about Stockport: it's football club. Worst thing its roads. Sadly congestion and congestion charge looks more likely than County climbing back up to top ranks in the next few years.
