Pensioner raped on doorstep by sex fiend

A SEX fiend who raped a pensioner because he ‘liked to go drinking and then have sex with older women’ is starting a six year jail sentence after a terrifying attack.

Michael Wild from Brinnington Road, Brinnington pounced on his victim as she sat on the doorstep of her home waiting for her son to let her in.

During the attack Wild held the woman in an ‘iron grip’ which crushed her voice box and left her fearing she was going to be murdered.

Police traced Wild by DNA, but he claimed he could not remember anything about it.

At Minshull Street Crown Court  prosecutor Nikki Gatto said the victim had been with her son at a pub last July and left around midnight.

When she got home she realised she had left her keys  but as she waited for her son to come with them, Wild suddenly approached her.

“Out of nowhere the defendent appeared and asked her what she was doing sitting on her own,” Miss Gatto said.

“He then started to caress her. She told him to ‘pack it in’ but he did not stop.”

Miss Gatto said the woman shouted for help, but the 26-year-old grabbed her neck and held it in an ‘iron grip’ - crushing her voice box with his fingers.

“She had difficulty breathing and could not shout out. She thought she was going to be murdered there,” she added.

“Wild ripped off her clothes and then pushed her to the floor. He kept one hand on her throat and pulled her trousers down. He then had intercourse with her.

“She said she could hardly breath and almost passed out. She found it particularly distressing because she had not had sexual relations for many years.”

The court heard that Wild raped the woman twice during the ordeal and was described as ‘frantic’ by the victim.

He then pulled up his clothes and walked off. He was arrested after his DNA matched samples found at the scene and he later said he remembered he had been out drinking, and that he ‘just liked to go out drinking and have sex later with older women’.

He claimed he and the woman had consensual sex but later admitted rape.

Defence counsel Mark Ford said: “The defendant is genuinely remorseful. Although his mental state of mind is better, he is still minded to take his own life because of how disgusted he is by his actions.

“The defendant has had a very bad upbringing because during the course of the interview he has discussed with them matters which he has never told anyone before.

“He is motivated to address his problems. He is still in a relationship with his girlfriend and their three-year-old child who are standing by him.”

Passing sentence Judge Jonathan Geake said: “It is clear that you have had a very traumatised upbringing from a young age which may well have affected your boundaries in later life.”

Wild was also ordered to sign the sex offenders register for life.
