Raunchy video teacher still suspended from Stockport Grammar

23/ 1/2008

A CHRISTIAN teacher who was suspended for appearing in an explicit film remains banned from school this week - despite sparking a public outcry.

Sarah Green was sent home from £7,000-a-year Stockport Grammar last week following the Stockport Express’s exclusive revelation that she appeared in a raunchy internet video.

Since then the English teacher, who is also a Worship Leader at her parents’ church, has attracted the support of friends, teaching unions and the public.

In the last week, views of the Youtube video have rocketed from 35,000 to more than 800,000, with 700 people posting overwhelmingly supportive comments.

The video, which shows Sarah (pictured) taking part in a series of simulated sexual acts in an advert for construction clothing, has been featured on TV and radio phone-in shows and has sparked debate all over the country.

And now an old friend has also hit out at the school’s actions. Wayne Blakemore, a software consultant from Worsley, said: "Obviously this is totally unfair. If you look at the video it’s just an acting job. It strikes me as extremely petty - you imagine these people would have better things to do.

"I knew her as an extremely pleasant person and I was pleased to learn she’d gone on to become a teacher.. You would think the school would stop it and see it for what it is - a storm in a teacup."

The 25-year-old has a background in singing as well as acting, having previously recorded a track on a compilation of Christian music.

Miss Green’s parents, both religious leaders at the Ivy Cottage church in Didsbury, have also stood by her.

And Avis Gilmore, NUT regional organiser, added: "If every person was dismissed for a moment of foolishness in their past, nobody would have a job."

But this week the school refused to set a decision date. Head Andrew Chicken said: "We are proceeding reasonably, carefully and appropriately but no timetable has been fixed at the moment, and I have nothing to add."

   Mr Chicken,

While you are pondering the cost for this farce is racking up.

Pull your finger out and make your mind up.
