Rampaging youths on wrecking spree

A VIOLENT gang of drunken youths rampaged through Great Moor smashing car wing mirrors and shouting abuse at stunned bystanders last week, according to a shocked Salford visitor.
The teenage hoodlums caused hundreds of pounds worth of damage, as they reportedly destroyed property on Islington Road, and, according to the witness, even threatened to firebomb houses.
Shocked spectator Anthony Cranstoun, of Salford claimed the young gang behaved in an appalling fashion, the like of which he’d never seen before.
He said the scenes conjured up thoughts of Garry Newlove - who was kicked to death outside his own home, after confronting teenage thugs in Warrington last August.
Anthony, who was visiting friends in the area, said: "What I saw has had a profound effect on me.
"Garry Newlove's reward for protecting his family and his property was losing his life, which is why after chasing the gang and being threatened by them we all just thought it wasn’t worth it."
Police are now appealing for parents to help bring an end to the intimidation brought about by the teenage gangs.
Inspector Dermot Morrissey said: "Police officers, Trading Standards, and Stockport Council’s Youth Services team can only do so much.
"We now need the parents of these children to take responsibility for where they are and what they do, as well as have residents keep reporting any wrong doing."
He added: "I would like to reassure our local residents there are many initiatives in place to tackle anti-social behaviour and criminal damage.
"We take these incidents very seriously and I would ask people to contact the police with any issues they have, or if they see any offences taking place."

Got an opinion you want to share?
If a gang of youths caused bother on the the street and every single mum every single dad phoned the police and came out of their homes and told them stright. It would not arise to anything more than banter. The police would have 10 20 calls about the same incident and would not be in a position to ignore it !.
Its this type of community spirit that when done properly can stop that type of behaviour from happening.
Yobbish parents will always be around. Who don't care about what their rotting apple does on the streets. Until it comes to their doorstep. Then they will want our support as a community well They can !! off !
