E-fit released of attempted abductor

27/ 3/2008

DETECTIVES have released an e-fit picture of an attempted child abductor who they believe could now have struck for the third time.

It is thought the fiend tried to persuade an eight-year-old schoolgirl into his light blue car as she was walking along Langdale Road, Bramhall, on Monday (March 24) at around 5pm. When the girl refused, he claimed to know her parents, but she ran off unharmed.

The incident comes hot on the heels of two other attempts in Bredbury 10 days earlier and although police have urged parents not to panic, they admit there is a risk of another strike.

Detective Inspector James Ellson, from Stockport CID, said: "In respect to another attempt of course it’s possible, but the risk has been minimised by increased public awareness and a proactive police response both with increased patrols and a high priority investigation from Stockport CID.

"The three incidents could be linked through the descriptions we have got, it appears there is an offender out there and the potential for a serious crime is real.

"We would emphasise there is no need to panic. There has been a really good response from the public and we are following up a number of promising leads."

The first incident happened on March 14 at around 3.30pm. A man tried to entice an 11-year-old boy into his small dark blue car as he was walking home from Werneth School, in Harrytown. But the victim ran home to his house on Sandiway.

Just 30 minutes later a 12-year-old boy walking near Werneth School was targeted but he also refused to get into the car.

In both incidents the man was described as white, in his 20s or 30s, with short hair and wearing a red top and possibly a baseball cap.

The car he was driving may have had a green trailer attached.

A description from the third incident is of a white male in his 20s, with short brown spikey hair and possibly freckled cheeks.

He also drove a blue car.

Detectives want to speak to the man and have issued an e-fit. Anyone with any information can contact police on 856 9986 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

This is something I didn't hear about until I reed the S.Express, Why has it not been on every TV Channel, Radio stations to let us know what is happening. My daughter goes to school in Bredbury and I have yet to read a letter about this. Whilst I hope all parents are keeping an close eye on there children. Why should people whom pray on children be allowed to roam the streets. I HOPE THIS MAN IS FOUND AND LOCKED UP B4 A CHILD IS TAKEN!
