Is your pet a true star?

27/ 3/2008

THE Stockport Express Pet Idol competition is underway. We’ve teamed up with a big-name sponsor to ensure our 2008 search for a star is the biggest and best.

Pets at Home have offered a fabulous set of prizes, worth an amazing £500 for the overall winner.

Pet Idol will be run simultaneously by other newspapers in the MEN media group, with the winners from each area - including one just for the Stockport Express - taking home £150 worth of vouchers to spend in any Pets At Home store. There will also be £50 vouchers for runners-up.

The Stockport winner will then be entered into a grand final for the chance to walk away with £500 worth of vouchers.

As always, you are free to put forward any pet you own; be it a dog, cat, rabbit, hamster, horse or other pet, great or small.

Simply supply us with details of your pet, and a picture of the pet on its own, and then we’ll publish the pictures, and invite our readers to vote for the cutest, cuddly friend.

The competition starts today and will run until the edition of Wednesday, April 30, with the Stockport area winner being revealed the following week, before going forward to the grand final.

We’ll accept entries by post via the form in the Express, or by email. If emailing your entry, please supply a jpeg picture of your pet, including all the details as on the entry form (pet's name, your name and address, telephone number and why you think your pet is a star), and email it to petidolstockport@menwn.co.uk

So it’s cameras at the ready and send us your favourite pet picture and have the chance to see your furry friend crowned Pet Idol 2008!

I agree. There should be a facility to vote online. I know it's only a bit of fun but surely the idea is to get as many people voting as possible. Postal votes are so old fashioned and kids won't vote that way but probably would via the internet.

I have to say what's all the fuss about? This is a bit of light hearted fun in a world that has become at times depressing and sad with all the bad news around - this most certainly brightens my day looking at all the gorgeous pics of the animals and I would rather open the paper and see them than the usual horrendous crimes and their headlines anyday.
