Man stabbed in Cheadle Heath
21/ 5/2008
DETECTIVES have launched an investigation after a man was stabbed and staggered down a main road in Cheadle Heath with the knife still plunged in his body.
The 21-year-old is said to have suffered serious injuries in the attack, on Edgeley Road, near Morrisons roundabout on Sunday shortly before 7.15pm.
Despite bleeding heavily he managed to stumble up to Stockport Road, where he pleaded for help before an ambulance arrived.
One eye-witness said he then pulled the knife from his body. Police cordoned off a section of both roads as the commotion alerted a gathering crowd.
Steven Jackson, who lives on Stockport Road, said: "You often hear sirens going past, but one suddenly stopped and four or five police cars came rushing in. A police dog searched the area.
"You could see blood on the victim and he was moaning from the pain, he had been on the street asking for help at the Co-op.It is a bit scary for something like this to happen almost on your doorstep. I’ve never seen anything like it except on TV."
The victim, who was taken to hospital for treatment, had staggered past the Farmer Arms pub on his search for help.
One regular, who did not wished to be named, added: "He still had the knife in him and he pulled it out outside the Co-op. It was quite shocking."
A police spokesman confirmed they had attended reports of a stabbing on Edgeley Road. He added: "The 21-year-old was seriously injured in the incident, but he is expected to survive."
Inquiries are ongoing.
