Post office armed robbery fails

TWO men left fled empty-handed after trying to a post office in Stockport today (Wednesday).
The men approached the postmaster and postmistress at the Stofckport Road office in Romiley at about 10am and demanded cash while brandishing a hammer and machete.
The pair then tried to smash the screens before fleeing empty-handed. The men escaped in a blue VW Golf towards the centre of Romiley.
The men are described as white and wearing dark clothing and balaclavas.
The Post Office is offering a substantial reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of whoever is responsible.
