Fans celebrate the arrival of players and meet their heroes.
Hatters walk blue carpet

THE blue carpet was rolled out for Stockport County legends past and present at the Plaza to celebrate 125 years of Hatters’ history.
White limos delivered the VIPs to the glitzy event and fans had the chance to meet the players as they made their way to the champagne reception - which saw County manager Jim Gannon and his current squad rub shoulders with a selection of Stockport heroes.
Guests at the glamorous event were shown a shortened version of the ‘History of Stockport County’ DVD, documenting the ups and downs of the club from its beginnings in McLaughlin’s coffee house in 1883 to the 3-2 play off triumph over Rochdale at Wembley stadium in May this year.
Mr Gannon said: "I have been associated with the club for 18 years and this is a fantastic occasion. I am really looking forward to seeing the movie - there is a lot of history in there and it involves myself and people that I know very well - it is great to have these old players back again."
Portuguese winger Luis Cavaco was part of County’s most successful season of 1996-97 when the team had a fantastic run to the semi-final of the League Cup, knocking out four Premiership clubs and winning promotion to the then First Division.
He said: "It is such a pleasure to be here and I am proud to be part of the story of Stockport.
"I try to not get emotional but this really is an important evening."
