7/ 6/2002

A MEMORIAL service took place to remember those who died in the Hopes Carr air crash 35 years previously.

It took place in June 2002 around the monument to the crash on Waterloo Road. Survivors from the crash and those who wish to pay tribute to lost ones are welcome.

More than 100 people attended, including the sons of Captain Marlow who flew the plane. They accepted a bravery award on behalf of their father.

And John Heath also attended the service. He was on duty as a policeman on the day of the crash and helped survivors. There was be a reception at Stockport Town Hall afterwards.

Brian Donohoe helped organise the service. In June, 1967, he was one of the men who rescued people from the plane.
