Pensioner dies in road horror

A PENSIONER from Great Moor died following a road accident in Bramhall on Friday.
Mary Vernon, from The Heathers, was attempting to cross Moss Lane shortly after 11.25am when she collided with a truck.
The 78-year-old suffered multiple injuries and was rushed to Stepping Hill Hospital by paramedics, but was pronounced dead on arrival.
Mary, originally from Rawtenstall, had recently moved to Great Moor from Lytham St Annes in Lancashire. She leaves behind a son and two daughters.
Road closures were in place for several hours at Moss Lane, close to the junction with Ack Lane East and Bramhall Lane South, until around 7pm while the scene was cleared and examined.
The 40-year-old truck driver from Bury was not injured in the crash.
