SHOULD I sty, or should I go? Tiny the miniature Kune Kune pig with Janet and Abbie Donohoe.

This little piggy stayed at home

A PET pig was spared from being homeless at Christmas after housing bosses saved its bacon with a last minute reprieve.

Katie Ellis, of Ecclestone Road, Adswood, was told her beloved Tiny would have to be given the chop by December 20 as a tenancy agreement banned the keeping of livestock.

But Stockport Homes decided this was a rasher than necessary decision and this week allowed the pair to spend one last Christmas together before Tiny - a pet of three years - is turfed out in the New Year.

Katie, 21, said: "It puts a bit of a downer on Christmas knowing she is going and it's going to be terrible when she does.

"But at least we get one more together as it wouldn't have been the same without her squealing for some spare turkey and potato peelings.

"I'd always wanted a pet pig since a saw one at a farm when I was little and I was finally given one for my 18th birthday. Tiny's great, when she hears me coming home from work she runs out and greets me at the gate."

Tiny, who is a miniature Kune Kune, has lived in a garden shed with a fenced off outside area. She is cleaned and disinfected every night and children from the area often come and feed her scraps.

But last month an anonymous 'snout' complained about her to Stockport Homes and officers were forced to investigate and order her eviction.

Katie - aided by her mum Janet Donohoe and sisters Kirsty, 16, and Abbie, five, - begged for more time to find Tiny another home so she would not be thrown out on the street over Christmas.

Janet said: "She's very domesticated and used to being around humans so we have to be careful where we rehome her. We'll all miss her so much."

A spokesman for Stockport Homes said: "With the festive season upon us, we couldn't see a much-loved family pet out on the streets for Christmas!

"Our work with the communities of Stockport is designed to ensure a high standard of living and quality of life for all residents and keeping pigs is against the Stockport Homes tenancy agreement.

"We wish Tiny all the best for 2006 and for her search for a new and more appropriate home."

Typical! Don't know who complained about this 'pet' Or how they managed to be heard, its usually a waste of time complaining in Adswood! It would be good if Adswood council office workers, did some thing about the roving bands of kids with no where to go, who seem to enjoy smashing and tormenting the few respectable residents left living here. The lazy Adswood council workers turn a blind eye to problem family's, as its too much hard work and causes trouble 'for them' they are scared of some family's here. The people know this, and they know they can do as they please, and yet the council continue to persecute others for having 'pets', easier pray that's all it is, if your a big family with loads of nasty kids they will let you claim to 'rule Adswood' and leave you to it.
that's Adswood for you, Stockport
