School’s delight at Ofsted report

A CHEADLE Hulme school has scored highly in a new report published by Ofsted, the government's inspection watchdog.

Cheadle RC Junior School at Conway Road was deemed as 'outstanding' in dealing with the personal development of its 342 pupils.

It was graded the same for its curriculum and as 'good' in other key areas, including effectiveness, achievement, standards, teaching, learning, care-guidance, support, leadership and management.

The inspector's report stated: "Standards are significantly above average and pupils make good progress in English, mathematics and science. The pupils' personal deveopment is outstanding and behaviour is exemplary.

"Pupils are confident, relate very well to their teachers and each other, and enjoy learning. The school provides good value for money."

Headteacher Christine Robinson said: "It's a wonderful tribute to the hard work that everybody has put in and I am absolutely delighted. I have excellent teaching and dedicated staff, and wonderful support from parents.

"I have been here for three years and it has always been a good school with excellent SATs results. Every child matters and we are committed to having a broad and balanced curriculum."

The inspectors said areas to 'make the school even better' were more computers, and the governors and the headteacher should work towards an improved school building.
