MURDERED Uzma Arshad's mother and brothers were present in court to see Rahan Arshad pronounced guilty.
And after the verdict, Det Supt Martin Bottomley issued the following statement on their behalf.
"For months we were in terrible shock but I would like to thank the police and all the staff working on this case.
"No one can heal our grief. Uzma was our best friend and a loving sister. I can't understand how he could destroy them. We are glad he will never get out of prison. A person like this should never be freed."
Rahat Ali, Uzma's brother, added: "It is impossible to put into words and explain the impact these murders have had on me and my family.
"I am unable to emphasise just how much distress this has caused to us all as a family.
"For the first three or four months, I never slept properly. The same can be said about my mother, my wife and all my brothers and sisters.
"Personally, I remember not having any sleep at all between finding out about the murders and up to Arshad finally being arrested. None of us could understand how a father could do such a thing to his own children and his wife.
"He ran away abroad somewhere and left his family all dead in their family home with no remorse at all.
"I will never forget what I saw when I went to see Uzma and the children in the mortuary. They were just lying there and I was thinking 'what has he done to them'?
"The faces of our loved ones always come before our eyes."
