Manana ...

Miles Skinner
11/ 4/2007

MANANA, manana, manana ... I'm not far enough away from recent feelings of health and vitality not to feel like a worthless burden on my 'big bones'.

The buttons on my new, smaller-but-not over-ambitiously-so disco shirt are on the cusp of seeing me had up for a shooting...should I stop inhaling and sit down.

And on the subject of inhaling, I haven't yet mustered the will to re-tackle the fags.

Another couple of weeks and my conscience will be muffled by a doughnut gag once again, but I am hearing it - or rather the shrieks of my infuriated body - all too loudly this week.

Cries of irritation must surely soon come from my team of helpers...and what about the Stockport Express big cheeses?

How can I continue to write a column on a voyage to health if I am languishing in the doldrums of sloth? I can't get away with another offering based purely on failing.

"This week I ate pizza and watched some videos." Hardly the stuff that graces the pages of Men's Health.

I haven't been back to the gym since I just stopped short of bequeathing my lungs to the treadmill was last seen there on March 15.

"Boo hoo, silly Fatty," you may scoff - and you'd be right.

Blah, blah, blah. Writing self indulgently about flubber-frustrations as opposed to health tactics...again. But the butterball has just stopped rolling despite the objecting law of gravity.

Again it has come to that stage where as I'm perpetually going to start on Monday, I may as well stuff my face until then.

Why?

I think at some stage I might go and find a kindly psychologist to fill the column at some point. At least I've never been a great chocolate fan.

The Easter Bunny has never bothered to visit - either because he knows I don't have a sweet tooth, or he is afraid of being made into a pie.

No - it's back to poached eggs for me.

Miles you look fantastic in your latest picture with apple and ciggarettes. Don't give up now - we all think your progress has been monumental. Getting back on that wagon is worth it in the end.
