It’s all systems go!

STOCKPORT’S Danny Harding is gearing himself up for what promises to be a cracking end to 2007.

Lightweight prospect Harding, aged 26, is booked in for a ‘warm-up’ contest at the Colne Municipal Theatre on Sunday, November 25, and if he comes through that, as expected, unscathed, then a battle royal against fellow unbeaten youngster Lee Cook beckons in front of the Sky TV cameras on Saturday, December 8.

Harding has been pencilled in for a spot on the undercard of Jamie Moore’s European light-middleweight title tilt on December 8 at the Robin Park Arena in Wigan, a show which will precede Ricky Hatton’s latest titanic clash, against ‘Pretty Boy’ Floyd Mayweather in Las Vegas, later that evening.

Harding said: "I’m really looking forward to getting back in the ring again now, I’m training hard.

"I might be a bit rusty at the show in Colne, but fingers crossed I’ll come through that okay and then hopefully it’ll be all eyes on meeting Lee Cook.

"I’ve had to pull out of two fights this year and that’s been frustrating.

"It’s done my head in.

"But I’m fit and raring to go again now and the Cook fight could be a real cracker."

Cook, from Morden in Northumberland, has won nine and drawn one of his ten pro fights so far, while Harding has won all six of his bouts in the paid ranks so far.

His last outing was in April when he out-pointed Chris Pacey, but since then he has been hampered by minor injuries.

Meanwhile, Harding returned to Bob Shannon’s gym in Openshaw six weeks ago following a spell with Oliver Harrison and Nigel Hardman in Salford.

Harding added: "I was finding it a little difficult getting over to Salford for training after a day at work.

"I’ve known Bob for a while, and it’s good to be back with him again."
