Early exit

GLOSSOP CC exited the Lancashire Knockout Cup following a 65-run defeat at Whalley on Bank Holiday Monday.

Having won the toss and put their Ribblesdale League hosts into bat, Glossop started well as Harwick removed Davies with the fourth ball of the day.

Unfortunately for Glossop, and the owners of the houses adjacent to the ground, this bought Whalley’s paid man Sathish to the crease.

Although Glossop managed to pick up wickets at the other end, Sathish struck a century from as many balls before he was dismissed for 141 – which included 13 sixes – with four overs remaining as Whalley compiled 204-8.

While all of Glossop’s top four achieved reasonable starts in reply, they were unable to carry on as Whalley bowled reasonably well to prevent the visitors from keeping up with the required run rate.

The task became increasingly unlikely as the overs ticked by with Glossop eventually dismissed for 139.
