THE top two teams in Division One were both beaten last weekend in the latest round of games in the Peak Sports Derbyshire and Cheshire League, while the promotion battle goes on in a tight Division Two.
Compstall surprisingly lost at home to Birch Vale [see above], while Dinting batted first at New Mills and made 223 for 6.
Matt Blood scored a classy 138 not out as Alistair Stevens took 3-68 and Andy Holmes 3-92.
In reply Andy Holmes made 53, but 5-56 from Brian Thompson saw New Mills all out for 144.
Romiley batted first at Hayfield and boasted 82 not out from J Kelly and 35 from Danny Leach as they set 230 for 8.
Chris Unsworth was the best bowler, taking 4-50.
In reply Russell Evans made 53, but 6-36 from P Garner saw Hayfield all out for 143.
Hawk Green batted first at home to Tintwistle and, thanks to 39 from Josh Granite, set 205 all out.
Matthew Robinson took 5-60 and J Poole 4-64 for the visitors.
Martin Harris made 65 in reply, but wickets fell regularly and Tintwistle were eventually all out for 155.
In Division Two, Woodley batted first at home to Buxworth and largely thanks to Lee Goodwin’s 83, set 181 all out.
In reply, 62 from Josh Ratcliffe and 47 from Dave Inglefield saw Buxworth knock the runs off for the loss of eight wickets.
High Lane travelled to Chapel and found James Hawtin in great form as he took 7-35 to leave High Lane all out for just 74.
Chapel made no mistake in their response as they knocked the runs off for the loss of three wickets.
Whaley Bridge travelled to Buxton and set 213 for 4.
Darren Crompton made a stylish 97 and Charlie Holden 64 not out.
In reply, B Marsden made 55, but 5-50 from Steve Woolley saw Buxton all out for 197.
Birch Vale batted first at home to Compstall in Division Three, and set 171 all out.
Waseem made 43 as Chris Lees took 5-36.
In reply, Jim Williamson made 31, but 3-24 from Waseem saw Birch Vale bowl Compstall out for 162.
Dinting batted first at home to New Mills and made 155 as Mike Birchenall took 4-45.
In reply Hayden Marsh made 56 and Callum Firth an excellent 62 not out to steer New Mills home for the loss of eight wickets.
Romiley batted first at home to Hayfield and set 191 for 8.
Andy Ney took 3-26 as Alex Barber made 43.
In reply Shane Furness made 35, but 4-35 from Paul Hooton saw Hayfield all out for 145.
Tintwistle entertained Hawk Green and set 168 for 6.
Tony Holme took 4-47 for the visitors.
In reply, P Wallace took 5-9 as Hawk Green capitulated to 96 all out.
In Division Four, Whaley Bridge batted first at home to Buxton and thanks to 5-42 from M Eyre and 3-19 from P Bentley, saw Whaley all out for 124.
In reply Bentley made 43, but 4-18 from Colin Wild and 4-23 from Sean Pike saw Buxton all out for just 102.
