Duo pulling away in division one

LAST weekend’s games in the Peak Sports Derbyshire and Cheshire Cricket League saw Compstall and Romiley pull away at the top of division one after Hayfield’s shock defeat at Dove Holes.
Romiley made an impressive 224-9 at Old Glossop before Paul Garner ended with 6-30 as the hosts were skittled for 123.
Hayfield were all out for 161 at Dove Holes, the hosts knocking off the runs for the loss of eight wickets.
Hawk Green went down by 24 runs at Dinting where the hosts set 213-8, only for Green to be dismissed for 189, Andrew Logan with 7-30.
Dave Ward’s 5-32 helped New Mills bowl out Newton for 188, only for Koria to take 6-62 as New Mills could only reply with 145.
Birch Vale went down by six wickets at Tintwistle after they were all out for 131 batting first.
In division two, High Lane batted first at home to Hollingworth and despite Cotham’s 43, they were all out for 122 as Hollingworth won with five wickets in hand.
Division three saw Will Kilner make 93 as Birch Vale compiled 194-6 against a Tintwistle side all out for 119 in reply, Steve Burns taking 6-20.
Chris Lees inspired Compstall to victory at Chapel, returning figures of 6-3 as the hosts were skittled for 49 chasing Compstall’s 103 all out.
Craig Young made 76 and Dave Wilkes 74 in Hawk Green’s 254-6 against a Dinting side all out for 180 in reply, Mike Holme with 7-48.
Hayfield entertained Dove Holes and rattled up 254-6, Glen Reynolds top-scoring with 66.
Although Phil Buckley hit 65 in reply, Platt’s 5-57 saw Dove Holes dismissed for 138.
Ryan’s 117 guided Romiley to 215-6 against Old Glossop before Paul Hooton’s 3-13 saw the visitors all out for 66.
Elsewhere, New Mills could only make 94 having seen Newton total 155-8 when batting first.
In division four, there were defeats for both Hazel Grove and High Lane.
Grove were dismissed for 110 by Hadfield, the visitors reaching their target with seven wickets to spare.
High Lane batted first at Hollingworth and were all out for 140, the hosts winning by three wickets despite Vorley’s spell of 4-24.
