Injury time blow for Cheadle

26/ 9/2007

CHEADLE Town crashed out of the Carlsberg FA Vase in controversial circumstances at Park Road on Saturday.

Andy Linden gave Cheadle an early lead, before Ashton drew level.

Then, on the half-hour mark, Cheadle full-back James Heath saw red after a clash with an Ashton striker.

Heath walked off the pitch with blood pouring from a facial wound.

Ten-man Cheadle again went in front early in the second half through Aaron Riley, but a late equaliser and a winner in injury time saw the Stockport outfit bow out of the prestigious competition.

It’s back to the glamour of the FA Cup again this Saturday for Town, as they travel to Rotherham to face Dinnington Town in the competition’s second qualifying round.
