Woodley stalemate

WOODLEY Sports had to come from behind to secure a share of the spoils at Lambeth Grove on Saturday.

Visitors Harrogate Railway Athletic took an early lead, but recent capture Neil Wright was again on the mark as Woodley levelled matters before half-time.

Chris Willcock’s side remain in 14th place in the UniBond division one north table.

This Saturday Woodley travel to struggling Chorley.

Meanwhile, last Wednesday’s league trip to Bury’s Gigg Lane ground to take on FC United was postponed.

A new date for the fixture has yet to be confirmed.

Cheadle edged out

A SOLITARY goal midway through the first half was enough to send Cheadle Town to defeat at Holker Old Boys.

The Barrow outpost continues to be a jinx ground for Cheadle, as they have still never won there.

On Saturday Cheadle rarely looked like breaking that duck, and chances were few and far between at either end.

The decisive goal came following a mix-up in the visitors’ defence.

This Saturday Cheadle entertain local rivals Maine Road in the quarter-finals of the Vodkat Challenge Cup.

The match kicks-off at 3pm.
