Sterns strikes for Adswood

STOCKPORT DSL FOOTBALL: There was a good win for Adswood United Reserves in their P Bailey/G Wright Memorial Trophy clash as they beat one of the competition favourites, Roaring Winds.

Rick Sterns scored twice for Adswood, while Winds’ goals were scored by Tom Galloway and Russ Bruckshaw.

Queens Bredbury beat arch rivals Bredbury, whose chances of getting anything out of the game went when Bobby Jackson got himself sent off. Gareth Baker, with a stunning volley, scored the only goal of the game in the first half.

Champions Cale Green lost to Real Reform. Real’s scorers were Ben Brooks, Sean Pearce, Mattie Hurst and Jason Whalley. Lee Morris (2) and Cayne Handley replied.

Higher Poynton made Victoria Park battle all the way for their points. Jamie Flood, who was upended in the area, got up to slot a penalty home for Park’s first. Steve Reyes got the second, but after Tom Watson had pulled one back for Poynton, Park were glad to eventually hear the final whistle.

Cheadle FC and Robinson’s Electric shared the points in a cracking game. Dean McGregor put Robbies in front, but Andy Wilson equalised. Mark Fairclough then put Cheadle in front, before Simon Cash got Robbies’ second.

Offerton Green beat Park Celtic with goals from Brad Dempsey (2), Tyrone Turner and Neil Bowden.

In division one Dilke Celtic provided the shock of the day with only their second win of the season against third-placed FC Kenilworth. Daz Mikhitarian, Ryan Watkins, and a 30-yard volley from Chris Turner registered for Dilke.

Mike Walker scored a dramatic last-minute winner for Sporting Northern in a tremendous game with Hindley Street.

Street’s scorers were Paul Lamb, Chris Hunter and Gavin Whitehead, while Kev Lea scored twice and Jason Wakefield got the other for the victors.

Harvester, top of division two, were beaten by Field Mount. Luke Gallimore, Ollie Simpson and Daniel Cookson were the scorers.

Stockport Dynamoes, who came from behind against Higher Poyton Reserves, went top of the table. Eddie Clarke (pen), Jordan Butler and Steve Dawson netted for Dynamoes, while Josh Bates and Keith Cashin (pen) replied.

Stockport and Norris beat Straw, who led at half time 3-1. Mark Dutton hit a hat-trick for Norris.

Millbrow beat Offerton Green Reserves with goals from Steve Littler, Paul Tipper and Chris Lees.

Nick Ghazi hit a hat-trick for Atlas in their win over Werneth, after Werneth had gone two up with goals from manager Wayne Ashworth and Ashley Voss.

Star, with the division three title almost in their grasp, had to be satisfied with a draw against Great Moor, who led 2-0 at one stage with goals from Gaz Bouldsworth and Tom Jackson. Paul Hough and Neil Fuller netted for Star.

It was honours shared in the local derby between Romiley Sports and Yew Tree, while goals from Leen Norton (2), Liam Murray and Anthony Peers got Adswood United B the win at Highways, whose lone scorer was Andy Speed.

Brothers Gary and James Leeson both scored in Reddish Con Club’s win over South Park United.

Edgeley Villa won their game with FC Wrights and go level on points at the top of division four with Roaring Winds. Des Hinks got two of Villa’s six goals.
