It's double trouble

LAST weekend was a miserable one for both Woodley Sports and Cheadle Town.

Woodley could only muster a late consolation goal as they were beaten 2-1 at home by mid-table Wakefield in UniBond division one north.

The Steelmen have now slipped to third-from-bottom in the table, although Lambeth Grove chiefs will probably be slightly relieved that only the bottom side will be relegated into the Vodkat North West Counties league at the end of the season.

Woodley are without a game this coming weekend, but their next match is set to be a real six-pointer.

On Saturday, March 8, Woodley travel to Bridlington Town, the second-bottom side, who are currently five points behind Woodley although they do have three games in hand.

Bottom side Radcliffe Borough are currently 10 points behind Woodley, but they have five games in hand on Chris Willcock’s men.

WILLCOCK has signed Ben Jones from Leek Town.

CHEADLE Town also only scored a late consolation goal from midfielder Rob Brocklehurst as they slipped to a 2-1 defeat at fellow strugglers Eccleshall in North West Counties division two. That was a fourth straight defeat for Town, who slipped to 15th place in table, although they do now face two home games in the next four days. Tonight [Wed] Cheadle host mid-table Norton United [7.45pm ko], then on Saturday rock bottom Daisy Hill arrive to do battle at Park Road.
