WOODLEY Sports’ survival hopes were given a huge boost on Saturday as Andy Farrell’s 64th minute strike handed the local outfit a shock 1-0 win over league leaders Bradford Park Avenue.

Sports deserved to win for the first time in 14 games as they secured a priceless three points which lifted them off the bottom of UniBond division one north.

Bridlington Town now prop up the table, although that could well have changed last night [Tues] as they hosted Radcliffe Borough.

Ahead of last night’s game, Bridlington were in the bottom spot with 31 points, while Woodley and Radcliffe had 32. The bottom side will definitely now be relegated after Newcastle Blue Star last week rescinded their intention to quit the league.

Woodley’s destiny will be decided this week.

Tonight [Wed] they travel to promotion-chasing FC United, then on Saturday a tense afternoon could be in prospect at Lambeth Grove as Ash Berry’s men host mid-table Lancaster City.

Bridlington travel to Rossendale United tomorrow [Thurs], then finish off with a trip to Chorley on Saturday.

Radcliffe wrap up their season with Saturday’s trip to Ossett Albion.

CHEADLE Town went down 2-0 at home against Bootle on Monday night. Town remain in 14th place in North West Counties league division two.
