THE eagerly-anticipated Vodkat North West Counties League campaign kicks-off again on Saturday, and both Cheadle Town and newly-promoted New Mills will be in action.
Cash-strapped Town, who endured an uninspiring 2007/08 season, get their latest campaign underway with a home First Division tie against Norton United.
Town follow that up with next Wednesday’s [13th] trip to Stone Dominoes.
New Mills, now in the Premier Division, are now fully prepared for the visit of Formby to Church Lane on Saturday [kick-off 3pm].
With there being no Barclays Premier League fixtures until the following weekend, the club is asking regular supporters to ‘Bring a mate to the Millers’.
To encourage this, New Mills chiefs will be offering any Barclays Premier League season ticket holder the chance to watch the opening game of the season at a discounted rate.
Those supporters wishing to take up the offer can gain admittance for £3 - a 40 per cent saving on the regular price - on production of their valid 2008/09 season ticket at the turnstiles.
Supporters of Tony Hancock’s improving side are advised that this discount is only valid for the Formby home game, but the club will be revealing similar offers during the course of the season.
Meanwhile, the UniBond League season doesn’t recommence until Saturday, August 16, when local First Division North outfit Woodley Sports will travel to Wakefield.
Watch for a special preview of the Steelmen’s new season in next week’s Express.
A CHARITY football match will take place at Woodley on Sunday, August 17, in aid of St Francis House. It is Manchester City Old Boys versus Woodley Old Boys. Kick-off is at 2pm, and the gates will open at 12pm. Admission prices are £6 for adults and £4 for concessions.
