Millers' unbeaten start comes to an end

NEW Mills’ 100 per cent winning start to the new Vodkat League Premier Division season came shuddering to a halt on Monday afternoon.

After three straight league wins, Tony Hancock’s side went down 2-0 at home to Runcorn Linnets.

On Saturday, the Millers won impressively 2-1 at Atherton LR. Garry Kharas grabbed both goals, with one coming from the penalty spot.

New Mills travel to Alsager Town on Saturday for a league game.

Meanwhile, following the resignation of reserve team manager Gareth McClelland, New Mills are on the lookout for a permanent replacement.

CHEADLE Town sit proudly at the top of the Vodkat First Division table after Saturday’s thumping 5-0 home win against Holker Old Boys. Town’s ruthless performance saw the Old Boys have no answer to their power and precision. On the mark were Aaron Riley, Andy Lindon, Mike Myers, Scott Flanaghan and John Hussein. Cheadle are without a game this weekend.

WOODLEY Sports warmed up for Saturday’s FA Cup clash against Brodsworth Welfare with a 1-1 draw at Colwyn Bay on Monday afternoon. The Steelmen lost 1-0 at home to Radcliffe Borough on Saturday. Saturday’s cup game takes place at Abbey Hey’s ground in Gorton, and kicks-off at 3pm.
