Bouncing back

Simon Smedley
17/ 9/2008

AFTER losing three North West Counties Premier Division games on the spin recently, New Mills bounced back on Saturday with a well-deserved 1-0 win away at Formby.

Josh Howard grabbed the winner to leave the Millers now handily-placed in fourth spot in the table.

Manager Tony Hancock said: "We have dropped a few silly points over the last couple of weeks, but we’re still in touch and I’m really pleased with how the season has gone so far.

"We have been hampered by injuries too, forcing us into a few reshuffles, but on Saturday we played well and ought to have won 10-0."

This Saturday, the Millers entertain Leicestershire-based Ellistown FC in the second qualifying round of the FA Vase [3pm ko].

Providing that game is not drawn, New Mills will then host Maine Road in the league on Monday [7.45 ko].

WOODLEY Sports crashed out of the FA Cup on Saturday, 3-1 at the hands of Rossendale United. This Saturday Woodley travel to Rossendale for a league game.
