CHEADLE Town remain in second place in Vodkat North West Counties League first division table after Saturday’s thumping away victory at Darwen.
Town took an early lead when Aaron Riley burst clear to shoot past the desperate dive of the Darwen goalkeeper.
However, Town didn’t fire on all cylinders throughout the remainder of the first half and it needed an interval ‘rocket’ from manager Trevor Howard to get the local outfit back on course for another victory.
Second-half goals from Andy Lindon and Mike Myers put Cheadle in command, and the fourth and final goal came in the dying seconds when a peach of a cross from Myers found Lindon who dived in to head the ball into the net.
On Saturday Cheadle, who have now won six of their opening seven league games, are at home to Stone Dominoes in the Vodkat League Challenge Cup.
The match at Park Road kicks-off at 3pm.
