CARLOS Meakin’s superb hat-trick enabled in-form New Mills to secure a well-deserved 3-0 win at Flixton on Saturday.

Tony Hancock’s side kept the pressure right on Vodkat Premier Division leaders AFC Fylde with their seventh straight victory.

The Millers were too strong for the hosts in all departments, while the whole defensive unit must take credit for not conceding a league goal in well over seven hours of football. The team has conceded only one in the last nine league matches.

This Saturday, the Millers look to further extend their winning run as they entertain third-placed Newcastle Town at Church Lane [kick-off 3pm].

North West Counties League Challenge Cup third round draw: AFC Fylde v Wigan Robin Park or Bacup Borough, Alsager Town v Runcorn Linnets, Colne v New Mills, Stone Dominoes v Oldham Town, Flixton v Formby, Silsden v Abbey Hey, Irlam v Bootle, Padiham v Atherton LR. • ANOTHER local hat-trick hero on Saturday was Mike Myers, who bagged three goals for Cheadle Town in their 5-2 home win against Daisy Hill.

Town turned in an excellent performance in new manager Steve Brokenbrow’s first game in charge.

Cheadle were two up at half-time through Myers, before Ben Brookes, returning from injury, added two goals of his own.

Myers completed his hat-trick, before the shell-shocked visitors snatched two goals in the last couple of minutes.

This Saturday Cheadle are at home to Bootle [3pm].

  • GOALS from Gavin Salmon and Paul Collins couldn’t stop Woodley Sports falling to a 3-2 defeat at Lancaster City on Saturday.

Salmon had given the Steelmen the lead in the 25th minute, but by the 69th minute the hosts had roared into a 3-1 lead.

Collins struck a stoppage-time consolation goal.

There was better news in the Cheshire Senior Cup last Wednesday though, as Woodley won 3-2 at Runcorn Linnets in their quarter-final tie.

Salmon scored the winner in extra-time, after Danny Queeley had scored two for Woodley in normal time.

Woodley host local rivals Mossley on Saturday [3pm].

  • STOCKPORT Georgians drew 0-0 at Gregorians on Saturday. Georgians’ second team won 2-1 at home to Hindsford, while the third team lost 3-0 to Gregorians.
