Accolades for Williams and Owen

CENTRE-back and new club skipper Ashley Williams is the Express’s County Player of the Month for August.
Getting the nod to wear the armband from his team-mates appears to have inspired Williams, who was in splendid form during the opening five games of 2007/08.
County opened with two straight clean sheets as Williams and his central defensive colleague Gareth Owen repelled everything that came their way from Dagenham and Tranmere.
Chesterfield then only equalised in the dying minutes in a 1-1 draw at Saltergate, before Williams turned in another star man performance during a thrilling 2-2 draw against a strong Rotherham side.
August closed with a cracking Carling Cup game at Charlton Athletic, where despite losing to a last-minute goal against the Championship side, Williams once again drew plenty of admiring glances from the stands.

Meanwhile, Owen has been selected for the Coca-Cola League Two Team of the Week following his dominant performance against Shrewsbury Town on Saturday.
