Pilks out for at least a month

19/ 9/2007

COUNTY’S impressive young midfielder Anthony Pilkington has been ruled out of action for at least a month.

Pilkington, aged 19, collided with goalkeeper Conrad Logan during training on Monday and strained ankle ligaments.

County boss Jim Gannon said: "Unfortunately Anthony is facing at least a month out injured now.

"It’s a disappointing blow both for the club and the lad.

"He was starting to get back to the form he was showing last season at the start of his County career."

Meanwhile, Gannon is hoping that fellow injury victims Matty McNeil (ankle), Dominic Blizzard (hamstring) and Gareth Owen (bruised toe) will be available for this weekend’s home League Two clash against bottom side Wrexham.

Blizzard missed last weekend’s game at Grimsby, while Owen didn’t train on Monday or Tuesday due to his injury.

However, Gannon is hopeful that all three will be okay by the weekend.

Goalkeeper Chris Adamson’s broken finger meant that Gannon drafted in loan stopper Zac Jones as a temporary replacement from Blackburn last Friday.
