ANTHONY Elding came off the bench to secure a vital end-of-year victory for Jim Gannon’s side.

After a forgettable first-half Gannon brought on County’s top scorer, who had been relegated to the bench in recent games, and Adam Griffin for the second period. 

The pair combined for the winner on the hour, Elding getting the touch to direct Griffin’s shot home. 

Wrexham were offered a way back in the 75th minute when Michael Raynes handled in the box.

But County keeper Conrad Logan pulled off a vital save to keep out Ryan Valentine’s tame penalty. Anthony Pilkington almost added a second for Stockport but his shot was cleared off the line by Wes Baynes.
