Hernia operation for McNeil

COUNTY striker Matty McNeil was set to go into hospital yesterday [Tues] to undergo a hernia operation.
It was hoped that McNeil might continue until the summer before going under the knife, but after a period of two weeks’ further rest was recommended to get over a recent knee injury, it was decided that that presented an opportune time to get McNeil into hospital in order to rectify his hernia problem.
Jim Gannon said: "It looks like Matty will need around six weeks to recover fully from his operation, but it will be great to have a fully fit Matty McNeil back in the squad by early March."
