It's a team thing

NEVER mind his own excellent form, County’s Express Player-of-the-Month for March Michael Rose has this week saluted the efforts of all of his team-mates.

Talented left-back Rose, aged 25, has played a major role in County’s fine run of late - a run which has seen a mean defence and superb ‘keeper John Ruddy concede only one goal in the last eight games.

However, Rose is keen for credit to be spread around.

He said: "I am happy with my form at present, but the results have been the main thing for everyone.

"We’re doing well, but it’s been a team thing really.

"We’re going in the right direction, everyone is playing well and we’re all covering for one another.

"Right through the team we’re looking strong. John Ruddy has done well and produced that super save on Saturday, up front Liam Dickinson is getting the goals, and the midfield three have all been brilliant.

"Our good run can’t be just down to the defence, we’ve all got our part to play, everyone’s involved."

Meanwhile, with just six games left now and the race for automatic promotion set to reach fever pitch, Rose has revealed that he and his County team-mates are keeping their feet firmly on the ground.

The jitters do seem to have hit County’s main rivals for the coveted third spot - Hereford and Darlington.

Rose added: "There’s no nerves in our camp. We’re just taking each game as it comes and keeping the same attitude.

"We definitely don’t want to lose our focus.

"All the games until the end of the season are big now though. We’ve given ourselves a great platform, but we remain focused on our main objective, and that’s promotion."

Rose’s contract is up this summer, and while he has revealed that any talks with County chiefs about a potential new deal haven’t yet begun in earnest, he has stated that he would love to stay at Edgeley Park.

"I love it at County and I want to stay here," Rose concluded.
