Jim - What a save!

9/ 4/2008

HATTERS boss Jim Gannon saluted John Ruddy’s second-half wonder save following Saturday’s massive win against promotion rivals Darlington at Edgeley Park.

Of course a 1-0 lead is always the slenderest, but Ruddy’s spectacular diving save to keep out Tommy Wright’s goal-bound header could well prove particularly crucial as the thrilling climax to the League Two campaign approaches.

Gannon said: "John hasn’t been called upon a lot today, but in odd games lately he has pulled out some world class saves.

"He has been a great addition to the squad recently, but what a save that was today. It was fantastic.

"He deserved a clean sheet after that effort."

Gannon added that he just wants to keep County’s excellent run of form going now that just six games of the regular season remain, but he also praised three players who starred at the opposite end from Ruddy on Saturday.

"Tommy Rowe, Stephen Gleeson and [match winner] Liam Dickinson were a handful all day," said Gannon.

"I’m delighted for Liam, he’s been brilliant all season.

"He tortured Darlington’s two centre-halves, he was superb.

"Tommy and Dicko really are set for great things in the future.

"It was great to see more excitement and passion today.

"We’ve got the goal, got the win, and got another three points.

"We’ll continue to put pressure on Hereford and Darlington. I’m enjoying every minute of it."

THE County Supporters’ Club have organised a fans forum for next Wednesday, April 16. The event takes place at the Bungalow Club next to Edgeley Park. It starts at 7.30pm and Jim Gannon and Peter Ward will be in attendance. All supporters are welcome to attend this free event.
