New deal for Gannon in the pipeline
25/ 6/2008
COUNTY chiefs will be sitting down with manager Jim Gannon shortly to discuss a new contract for the big Irishman.
Two summers ago Gannon agreed a three-year rolling contract at County, but a clause in the deal stipulated that it must be renegotiated should promotion be achieved.
That was the case last month of course, and now subsequent discussions are set to take place soon.
County managing director Mark Maguire anticipates no problems, however, as he explained to the Express yesterday [Tuesday].
Maguire said: "Jim and I will be sitting down in a couple of weeks with the aim of just agreeing one or two things. There is already a lot of good will on both sides, and there’s a lot of positive thoughts between us with regard to the direction the club is going in. I don’t expect a difficult conversation in any way, shape or form."
Maguire is confident that a new three-year rolling contract will be agreed.
Meanwhile, County have re-arranged a couple of their higher-profile pre-season friendly fixtures.
The Hatters will travel to Rochdale on Tuesday, July 22, before hosting a Liverpool XI on Saturday, July 26.
On Tuesday, July 29, County will travel to Macclesfield Town, before hosting Manchester City on Saturday, August 2.
Season ticket sales: COUNTY have now sold 3,200 season tickets for next term, with the club record figure of 3,500 now firmly in sight.
