It’s payback time for Woodley

2/ 7/2008

WOODLEY Sports chairman Pete Sullivan has personally thanked his club’s former striker Liam Dickinson following his big money move to Derby County yesterday on Tuesday.

Dickinson joined Stockport County from Woodley in December, 2005, for a fee of around £2,000, but a 20 per cent sell-on clause was inserted into the deal and now the Lambeth Grove outfit are set to receive a windfall in excess of £150,000.

"I’d like to issue a big thank you to Liam," said Sullivan.

"This money will benefit Woodley Sports enormously. It will help make us a lot stronger in the UniBond League next season. It will help us to really push for promotion to the Premier Division under Ally Pickering."

A chunk of the sell-on money has already been ear-marked for the conversion of Woodley’s Lambeth Grove club-house into a sports bar and gymnasium, with any cash left over set to be pumped into team manager Pickering’s playing budget.
