More players are linked

COUNTY have been linked with a clutch of players this week as speculation increases now that pre-season preparations are in full flow.

Hatters managing director Mark Maguire finally gave up on his side’s bid to sign Morecambe striker Carl Baker last week after having three bids turned down, but since then Rochdale hit-man Chris Dagnall and former County fans favourite Anthony Elding have been tentatively linked with possible moves to Edgeley Park.

One player who has been training with County though, is former Macclesfield Town goalkeeper Tommy Lee, who played for Rochdale against the Hatters in the Wembley play-off final in May.

He made an appearance as County lost 3-1 against Bury in a behind-closed-doors friendly last Friday.

County are away at a training camp at Lake Garda in Italy this week, but the first-team squad are set to take in their first pre-season friendly fixture on Saturday, at Cammell Laird.

Next Tuesday night, July 22, the Hatters travel to take on neighbours Rochdale at Spotland [7.30pm ko].

   I think everyone still hopes that Carl Baker might yet sign for county. The lad is superb player who would add an extra dimention to Jim's squad. We all know that there are budgets and salary guideline at the club, and yet the investment in such a quality player would not be a bad one.
